How to troubleshoot the slow speed issue on the PC?

Slow PC means delayed work. Using slow devices is very bothersome. Certain things affect the device’s speed. Getting slow speed errors on old systems is common. They have less RAM and hard disks. But new devices come with good RAM to perform heavy software easily. Whenever your system seems slow, check for certain things to improve the performance.

Remove all junk from the PC

Your computer runs slow when it has lots of junk. Junk can be anything like old or unused files, program files of removed programs, etc. Whenever you work, a temp file is created for holding data. After completing the job, the temp file becomes useless. The user should remove all these junk files to improve performance.

Delete the temp files and now inspect for other junk. If you can’t find the junk files manually, run junk cleaner. The junk cleaner utility tool of Windows checks all unnecessary and unused files of the system. Go to cmd prompt and run cleanmgr. This command will search for junk on the system. Now go to the list on the screen and checkboxes to remove. Select the OK button and those files will be removed. Once you remove the junk, system performance will be improved.

Remove malware from the system

Malware can cause lots of issues on your device. Viruses multiply and decrease the system performance. When your PC is lagging, run a malware scan. The user can run Windows Defender for scanning. But this program can’t remove all malware. You need a personal antivirus to remove all malware. But few users reported that anti-malware is decreasing system speed. Does McAfee slow down your computer? Well, the anti-malware slows down the speed when another program is interrupting it. Before you install a new antivirus, always remove the previous one. Uninstall the expired setup and delete all its files. After uninstalling, install a new antivirus and now run the scan. Your antivirus will remove the malware and all services will start working correctly.

Remove unnecessary programs from the task manager

The system runs slow when lots of programs are running simultaneously. The user may not see the running apps, as they are in the background. These apps use the RAM of the system and other programs can’t get enough RAM cycles. To boost performance, press the ctrl+Alt+Del button. Choose the Task Manager and check the Processes tab. Now you can see all the apps which are running on the system. Remove programs that you are not using. Once you remove those programs, your running programs will get more RAM and they will run with good speed.

Disable unnecessary programs from the startup

When you open the PC, several apps start running with Windows. Some of the apps are necessary but there are some apps which you don’t need on the startup. These start running and consume the RAM. The user should check the apps on startup and remove the unnecessary ones. Open the Windows taskbar and click on Startup. Check the apps on the list and disable apps which you don’t need at startup. Now restart the system and it will run with good speed.

Add RAM to the system

In old devices, RAM is very low. Using heavy apps on low RAM devices is very difficult. If your device has less RAM then you should add more RAM. Increasing RAM will improve the speed. There are lots of apps that can’t run on low RAM. Once you get good RAM, you can easily access those apps on the computer. If you are into games, get more RAM and play games seamlessly.

Remove third-party apps

Original apps are costly; people install third-party apps for free. These apps seem to be free but can cause damage to the system. Many of these apps carry malware like adware, spyware, etc. When you install the program, malware enters the system. These threats slow down the system and can also steal the data. You shouldn’t use any of these programs on the device. Open the Apps folder and check all applications. Uninstall the third-party programs and restart the PC.

Update the Operating System and apps

Updating the system is crucial. Malware can easily attack outdated systems. When the OS is outdated, system services can’t work correctly. If the new update for the system appears, install it. Also, check all the installed apps for updates. Keep the app and OS updated for good system performance.
