In the sports arena, peak performance in the sport has always been in great demand by players and coaches of all levels. Whether the athletes are school football players or athletes striving for their gold medals, peak performance in the sport always attracts athletes and coaches alike. In our modern age of sport, where the science of sport is at a high and rising level, what factors when properly applied can lead athletes to peak performance in sport? Are there secrets of sports excellence? Can these factors be easily manipulated to the benefit of athletes? This article discusses the factors that can lead athletes and coaches to peak performance in sports.

There are many articles and books detailing the principles, programs, success factors, and the like that can lead to peak performance in sports. Several authors have written at length about them and in many ways, the principles and factors are universal. The principles of progressive resistance, variety, goal-specific training, recovery, etc. are the primary and indisputable reasons that allow athletes to achieve peak performance in sports. This article goes further by exploring these global factors in a different light. In the process, I hope to give athletes and coaches alike how to apply these principles in practice and what factors are most important in terms of achieving success and peak performance in the sport.

There are two basic sets of factors we need to consider. Technical and human factors. Let’s have a look at the previous set of factors first;

Technical factors

1. Quality setting
2. Mastering individual skills
3. High fitness levels
4. Understand team play in general
5. Hold key positions for the team
6. Reduce errors in games

1. Quality setting

The hard work of any sports season begins with pre-season training which is very intense training. Nobody likes this season, as the work and training required are often very boring and painful. But this must be done so that athletes are optimally prepared for the rigors of the competitive phase. Endurance, strength, speed and skill size must be done. Not only is the amount of work involved, the amount of quality that is put into the setup stage is vital as well. When players cut corner kicks and put drills at face value without their heart and soul, this will show up later in the competition as fatigue, injuries, or a lack of sharpness in their performance. Peak performance in sports cannot be achieved under these conditions. The quality of pre-season preparation is even more important in youth sports.

Often in schools, the seasons for playing many sports begin almost immediately when the school year begins. With our children away for long vacations, our athletes often return to school to face competitions with very little training time. Team play, physique building and mental preparation are supposed to take place in 2-3 weeks, which is almost impossible and impractical in the world of sports. This kind of preparation is also detrimental to the development of our children. Under these circumstances, coaches and educators (and parents if possible) have a very important responsibility to ensure that our athletes are well prepared for the competition. Training programs for the sport addon should be developed and implemented at the end of the previous year. Our athletes need to understand that their season has effectively started when their exams are over. With the start of a training program, coaches and instructors can instruct athletes about their vacation training program as well. Every athlete should have one with which they can do something to improve their playing abilities while they are out of school. It can include things like maintaining a certain level of fitness through endurance activities such as cycling, running, swimming, playing catch and pitching in the backyard with their siblings, or even individual practices to improve certain skills. The main thing here is to preserve and improve what was achieved in the previous season, so that the athletes do not return to school and start from scratch. Planning and training in this way will simply ensure that the sports teams are well prepared for peak performance in the sport later.
